Holiday Inn Salina by IHG

I paid for a place to rest, but maintenance work on the fourth floor set off a fire alarm and woke me early. No one had warned guests beforehand, and staff didn't apologize. When I raised the issue, they made no effort to put things right. For the price, the poor communication and service were unacceptable. I wouldn't stay here again.

I've stayed here regularly, and each visit seems to bring another small decline. Staff are a bit ruder, more things are broken, the rooms smell a little worse, and the air conditioning works a little less well. It's still an okay value, but the trend is going the wrong way. I'd only stay because Hotwire has a deal of about 30% off. At $110 a night it's decent, but not worth the regular $155 rate.

I stay in hotels more than 100 nights a year, and this was one of my better stays. It's a big hotel with a spacious room and a great view. Customer service was good, including the check-in points throughout my stay. I had dinner at the restaurant one night, and the burger and fries were really good. The service was great and the meal inexpensive for a hotel. I also appreciated the Christmas decorations as someone who lives in hotels during the holidays. Highly suggest this hotel.

We arrived at midnight just to sleep while passing through, but the man in the next room snored so loudly that I had to use a fan app on my phone to drown it out. I also don't like elevators, and the front desk said the only way to reach the rooms was by elevator, since there was no stairwell accessible from inside the hotel. It was too expensive for what it was, especially with breakfast costing extra.
