Best Western Salinas Valley Inn & Suites

The room was good enough for me, and the front desk staff were nice. I had no real issues and would stay here again. I stayed a while ago and only just noticed I’d never left a review.

Water leaked from the bathroom light fixture all night, and there was black mold. They couldn’t even tell us where the water was coming from. The only fix they offered was towels on the floor. They refused to move us or give a full refund, offering just 20% off despite the safety issue and biohazard. This place was disgusting, the worst hotel experience I’ve had. Don’t stay here.

The hot tub was the best part, with strong jets. There were lots of out-of-service signs, no USB ports, and limited outlets in the room, so it feels outdated and not for Millennials. With two competing BW hotels side by side, it’s confusing, and neither seems to make an effort to stand out or attract customers. The clerk dodged some questions, including whether there was a free room upgrade for a Diamond Select member. I found out myself: nope.

The room we moved to was great, with working AC and better water pressure. But the two nights in room 205 were the most expensive ones. We were in Salinas for my grandma’s funeral, and that first night the AC only blew warm air and wouldn’t let us change anything. The front desk woman came up the next day, turned it off and unplugged it, and it started working. When we returned, it was warm again. I called the desk, and she said she’d come up but never did. The next morning she reset it and said she’d move us and discount the two nights if it happened again. It did, so she moved us, but we never got the discount.
