I ended up using my phone for internet because the room connection still wasn’t working after I went back upstairs. At the desk, the employee had entered my name incorrectly despite having my ID, and when he fixed it, he didn’t apologize or say anything. The whole check-in felt rude. He kept watching a social media video until he finally looked up with “Yeah?”, then acted irritated that I wanted a room. There was no welcome or please or thank you, just commands like “Give me your ID.”

The room was clean, but there was mold in the bathroom, the air conditioner didn’t work, and the fire alarm beeped every minute. The person at the front desk was very rude. This place needs a remodel and better management.

The room cost us less with the discounted rate, which made the stay worth it. At the $700 a night they were charging because of a car show in town, I wouldn’t have thought it was worth the money. The rooms are dated and open directly outside, and the carpet in ours was wet for some reason. Breakfast was served in a tiny ground-floor room, with waffles, cereal, fruit, bread, yogurt, and a pastry. We were driving the Pacific Coast route, so the location along our way earned five stars. Check-in was quick and easy.

We paid almost $500 for two nights during a softball tournament, but we were too disgusted to stay the second night. The beds had stains and spots, and we didn’t want to use the comforters. The carpet felt sticky, there was mold in part of the tub, and the water barely came out of the shower with awful pressure. Even a tissue from the box had a brown dirt or snot-looking splatter on it. The TV was broken, and its remote was falling apart and didn’t work. The surroundings felt sketchy, with homeless people outside, people staying there who seemed interesting, and loud cars. The pictures had made the place look promising, but this was truly the worst hotel experience. Nothing about it was good.

I paid over $200 for one night and found a thick grease ring and black mold in the tub, plus sheets and bedding with literal blood stains. They were also stained and full of hair, with holes cut into the sheets, presumably to hide cigarette burns. When I raised all this with the owner, he said it was his best room. I asked for clean sheets, and he handed them to me and walked away. The door locks were coming out of both the doors and jambs. This was disgusting and felt like a biohazard, unsanitary and unsafe. I made a formal complaint. If the parent company doesn’t address these problems, I’ll file one with the county health department.
