We checked in on 2/27 and checked out on 3/1. The one positive was that they kept us supplied with towels and washcloths. The room itself was clean, but we had too many problems to come back. The pullout bed had no pillows, sheets, or blankets, and the shower had no curtain. We also had no ironing board. At the desk, they said there were no more pillows or bedding, and gave us an alternative that smelled like cigarettes. My father asked again the next day; they said the items would be in our room while we were out that Saturday. When we returned, there were sheets and blankets but still no pillows, curtain, or ironing board. They eventually brought a shower curtain with no hooks. The other shower, with a glass screen, had no hot water. We were told we couldn’t use the stairs, which was very inconvenient because my mom can’t use the elevator. On checkout day, we asked for cookies and were told they had only enough for incoming guests. They let a delivery person bring food to our room even though we’d been told they don’t do that. Our family loves the Doubletree, so this was a sad experience, but now we know.

The mattress was fairly comfortable, which is why I’m giving the room two stars. There were no top sheets, so my husband and I had to sleep under a thin, scratchy waffle blanket. In the morning, the water took about 15 minutes to warm up and then stayed warm for no more than four minutes. Helluva way to wake up. This former LaQuinta Inn looks like it got the landlord special, with paint covering rust and who knows what else in the bathrooms. The door latched, but it was loose and didn’t fit the frame properly. We reported it and were told someone would fix it, but it was unchanged when we got back. We’d also been told the suite we booked online didn’t exist in this building, so we had to take two queen beds instead of a suite with a pullout couch for our boys. That alone wasn’t a huge deal, but they charged more than the rate for the other double queen room we’d booked, based on what that room was going for that day. It feels shady and disappointing for a Hilton property.

I stayed for a week during the change from LA QUINTA to DOUBLE TREE. As someone with a degree in Hospitality Management, I’d give them about a month before staying here. The restaurant was nice, the staff were wonderful, and the drinks were delicious. At the front desk, some people were pleasant and knew what they were doing, while others stayed on their phones and checked me in with a melancholy attitude. There were too many problems with room assignments and renovations. On my last night, I waited all day to check back in because neither system was working. They couldn’t even make me a set of keys in case I needed to leave my room. I was also overcharged with random charges twice. The front desk manager could explain only one of the two. Luckily, I have a good relationship with my banks. Trust me, they need time.

The room was spacious and clean during my one-night stay. The woman at the front desk was friendly as well as professional.

I left pretty disappointed. Our room still had the previous guests’ trash, the TV was off air, and coffee from the machine cost extra instead of being included in the stay. The staff were generally nice, but seemed to do the bare minimum. They didn’t offer a working room or even a free drink. If the rooms aren’t up to standard, why should I be expected to pay extra?
