Courtyard Salt Lake City Downtown

For a downtown Salt Lake hotel, this was one of the worst places I’ve stayed. We were there for a Jazz game, and the whole hotel smelled like cheap, musky perfume. There were only about 30 TV channels, the pillows felt like mushy cardboard, and the bathroom had no vent. There wasn’t even complimentary breakfast, which I’ve never seen at a hotel outside a seedy motel. Stay anywhere else in Salt Lake.

The food costs a bit much, but breakfast was delicious and came out very quickly. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. I arrived exhausted from a flight, and Courtney at the front desk was so bubbly and sweet that she lifted my whole day and put a smile on my face. This was easily the best hotel experience I’ve had, and I’ll stay here again next time I’m in SLC.

The pool is spacious and great for kids. Rubi at the breakfast Bristo was cheerful, friendly, and helpful, and I’d definitely consider adding breakfast to the room. The menu options are on the back of the card. Everyone was friendly, and the hotel is convenient for events at delta center. I recommend requesting daily housekeeping. If you choose every other day, they may forget, even after you ask.

We never received a receipt for the charges, even after calling. The manager was supposed to call back and didn’t. When I tried to reach her, the first call disconnected or was hung up on, and the second went straight to her, so my number was already set up to be redirected. She said there was a room sensor that detects smoke or vapor and refused a refund. We don’t smoke or vape, and steam from a shower could count as vapor, couldn’t it? After we got home, we were charged $352 for a smoking fee and parking. The reservation we’d made months earlier had also been changed without notice. There’s no bathroom fan, so after a long hot shower the smoke alarm right outside the bathroom goes off when you open the door. This felt predatory, and we’ll never return. I’ve never had a bad experience at a Hilton.
