Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Salt Lake City Airport

Best hotel I’ve stayed at, and I travel very often. I’d recommend it to anyone staying in the Salt Lake City Metropolitan area. The place was very clean, the staff handled everything I needed, and I’d give the experience 10 out of 10. Alex took care of check-in, checkout, and everything in between with real professionalism. It was the most amazing stay I’ve had anywhere so far.

We had a wonderful weekend here. Our room was nice and clean, and the airport shuttle was handy. It’s pet friendly, too. Sarah at the front desk was very nice. From our room, the airport and mountains in the background made for a gorgeous view. They also had complimentary breakfast.

The manager went out of her way to get my five-month-old grandson and me from the airport by shuttle. We’d been stranded there until a flight could be booked for the next morning. I wish I could remember her name. She made me feel welcome and at ease, so I could finally relax. Thank you for helping us and making sure we were rested for our trip back home to Montana.

The room was sleepable: no bad smells and no sign of bed bugs. The soap dispensers were mostly broken, the curtain rod sagged, and the reading lamps were a tangle of wires. The real problem was management. Our flight was massively delayed, and when we arrived exhausted at 4am, we were told we’d missed the 3pm check-in cutoff. It’s strange for an airport hotel to have a cutoff, and the booking gave no warning to make sure your flight wasn’t delayed. We had to pay for another night instead of sleeping on a park bench, and planned to sort it out in the morning. By then, the cutoff we’d supposedly missed had changed retroactively to 2am. They’d spoken to the GM, who apparently said there was nothing she could do. The shuttle to the airport had stopped running six minutes before we checked out, so we had to pay for a Lyft too. They wouldn’t make an exception for that, either. We’ll talk to Expedia, which will issue a refund and charge Microtel Inn and Suites back, so the hotel will have gained a couple of bad reviews that barely offset all those obviously fake five-star reviews they’ve been buying.
