The free breakfast was nothing special, but it did the job, and the staff were kind. The location is convenient, right across from Delta Center and close to other major downtown sights, though the tram next door can wake you with loud horns. I was in Salt Lake for a conference and found this to be a typical Hyatt Place, with clean, standard rooms and bathrooms that felt a bit dated. Housekeeping did a good job. The cash price didn't feel worth the room, but booking with points made the value seem right.
The staff are what make this place work for me. The front desk were very helpful with parking and any concerns, and breakfast was good, with solid choices and staff quick to refill things. I'd stay again. Parking is probably the hardest part: the lot across from Delta Center is tiny, and even with overflow parking you may have to hunt for a spot on busy nights. The rooms were okay, but the beds are quite hard, and the water swings between scalding and freezing with nothing in between.
What worked well: the hotel is a 10-minute walk from the Salt Palace, the staff were friendly, and the shower had great pressure and temperature. Breakfast was free, changed each day, and had enough variety for different tastes. What I tried was decent, including breakfast burritos, waffles, eggs, sausage, and oranges. The window covering was a chain-operated single panel that didn't block the light along the sides or at the bottom. I stuffed rolled towels into the gap, and in February 2026 there was also a slight draft there. Blackout curtains would help. The bed was firm, and any pillowtop it may once have had seemed long past fluffy. It didn't cut into how long I slept, but it wasn't especially comfortable. There was a lot of street noise, especially from 9 to 11 p.m. The rail line ran right below my window, and Delta Center next door added to the racket. Two of the three nights I was there had events. I already sleep with a sound-machine app on my phone and keep earplugs handy.
The location is very convenient on the northeast side of SLC, with the UTA Trax green line passing right by the entrance and Delta Center across the street, about a block south. The parking lot outside the back door is well lit and felt secure, and $15 a night seemed reasonable. I also found the clean, modern gym empty when I used it. Our room was very clean, smelled nice when we came in, and had a comfortable bed. The hotel is well kept and quiet, and I felt safe throughout the stay. A couple of things felt dated: the TVs use DirecTV with no streaming or casting, and there are no room safes. With some tech updates, this could really stand out. I'd happily stay again.
We got in at 11 p.m. straight from the airport, exhausted and just wanting to rest. I stay at Hyatts often and usually have a good experience. I'm 20, and I called ahead to check the age rule. Every booking site said guests could check in at 18, and I also confirmed that directly with the property after booking online. At the desk, the woman immediately told me I couldn't check in because I was under 21. She checked with the manager, then came back and said I could stay after all. That turned an already late arrival into a stressful situation. I understand hotels setting a 21-year minimum, and avoid those places to prevent trouble. But if this hotel advertises 18 as the check-in age, it needs to honor that, or update the age limit online and tell callers. The employee wasn't friendly or accommodating and only let us stay because the manager said so. Thanks to the manager for honoring the reservation. The rooms are very outdated for a Hyatt and noisy too.
