DeSoto Tudor on Capitol Hill

We had the whole basement to ourselves, with a living room, kitchen, bedroom, gym, and lovely patio, plus everything we needed. Vincent was a pleasant host and made delicious breakfasts every morning. He even accommodated my being gluten free, which I never expect but always appreciate. He also gave us ideas for things to do nearby. Vincent and Ken’s place felt like a home away from home on our first visit to Salt Lake, and we couldn’t have been happier. “Come as guests, leave as friends.” We can’t wait to return!

Vincent even let us leave our luggage after checkout because our train wasn’t until later that night. When we came back for it, he offered us wine, and we enjoyed the view from their kitchen along with great conversation and company. We felt like we’d made a friend. We also got to see Holey and Ida do tricks. The breakfast Vincent cooked to order at home was so delicious and professional-level that it alone is reason to stay. We didn’t get to use the spa, though we really wanted to. The suite was immaculate, with lovely decor including fresh tulips, a very comfortable bed and sofa, and lots of amenities, snacks, and drinks in the kitchen. The guest doodles were a fun reflection of Vince and Ken’s hospitality. From Vincent’s warm welcome and humor to the beautiful walk through his house to the suite, this stay was the highlight of our Utah trip in May and our best experience by far. We can’t wait to come back and tell our family and friends about the DeSoto Tudor Inn and its amazing hosts.

Vincent was an outstanding host, and even brought gluten-free pancakes for my husband’s sensitivities, along with eggs, bacon, and a lovely bowl of fruit. His and Ken’s private apartment was impeccable, tastefully decorated without going overboard, and had everything we needed. We slept like babies. I knew it would be a wonderful place as soon as I booked. I’d wholeheartedly recommend this B&B, and we’ll definitely visit again.

Ken and Vince went out of their way to make our stay special with thoughtful birthday touches. My husband and I had booked one night on our way back from a Utah camping trip to celebrate his milestone birthday with a nice dinner in Salt Lake City. The DeSoto is close to downtown and the restaurants, in a very walkable neighborhood. The accommodations were amazing, and Ken and Vince couldn’t have been better hosts. We only wish we’d booked more than one night. It’s a perfect escape, and we’d absolutely stay at the DeSoto Tudor on Capitol Hill again. Many thanks to them for making us feel at home!
