Brinlee at the front desk really made our stay at The Perry Hotel. She was welcoming and polite from the start, and handled every request efficiently and with care. She stayed calm, attentive, and professional, and often anticipated what we might need or found a quick solution before we asked. It's rare to find that mix of professionalism and real kindness. We felt valued as guests and are very grateful for her help. Her service made our hotel experience excellent.
The only real downside is paid parking. It's $25 for 24 hours right next door. Fair enough for a building from 1910, from before everyone had a car. Haha. The historic downtown hotel has a spectacular interior, and the beds are comfortable. This place is just plain awesome!
The showers got hot, the rooms were comfortable, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. There are two great places to eat, one attached at each end, which was fun. Parking costs a crazy $50 per day, in my opinion, since it's separate from the hotel.
The service was excellent, from the professional staff to the sweet housekeeping team. I also loved the little things, like the nugget ice and water machines built into the hallway wall. The room was extremely clean, with not a speck out of place, and the decor mixed antique style with modern touches. They kept the historic character without making it feel like a musty attic. The Peery is adorable and beautifully restored. I've traveled widely for work and know hotels and historic sites, so I think it's important to expect some quirks in a hotel over 100 years old. Bathrooms are often small, and the old designers sometimes made odd choices. The toilet is very close to the bathtub, so you have to sit funny, but that's normal in historic luxury hotels in places like NY, SF, and London. Parking is often separate at historic or downtown hotels. The public lot was literally next door, which I appreciated since I've had to haul luggage a block or pay $50 a day for valet elsewhere. The hotel doesn't control the price of a lot it doesn't run. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
The adjoining breakfast restaurant, helpful staff, bedding, and location all made for a lovely stay. The lobby was short on decaf, and the rooms had no robes, so the unexpected minimalism caught me off guard. Haunted or not, the place has charm. I usually go for newer hotels with fewer stars, but this historic property is well kept and pretty neat. Four out of five from me.
