There was plenty of desk space for working on my computer, and the room was roomy, quiet, and had a comfortable bed and full-size fridge. The lobby was bright and clean, too. I took off a star because the carpet and furniture looked a bit dirty, and the doorways could have used a wipe-down.

The morning front desk guy was friendly and even got the fire pit going for us. The staff were nice and accommodating during our couple of days there. But we came back after dinner hoping to settle in and watch the rest of the big game, and learned the TV had neither local channels nor apps to stream it. That was a real letdown.

I’m stuck here tonight because there are no other rooms in town, but I won’t stay at either Hilton property here again if I can help it. The carpet, couch, and desk chair all looked dirty or stained, and the shower wasn’t clean. The bed smelled as if someone had slept on one side, while the other side had no smell. There’s nowhere to sit or lie down that doesn’t look soiled or smell like someone was just there. I’m surprised the floors at the Hampton Inn haven’t collapsed. A clean lobby and nice employees don’t make up for rooms like this, it feels like they’re just for show. I won’t travel through this part of the country again.

The place was clean and in a good spot for San Angelo, and check-in went smoothly. On Sunday night, though, I was told all the local TV stations were out across the property when I tried to watch the game. I also wanted to use the hot tub, but its jets seemed to be in rough shape.
