SpringHill Suites by Marriott San Angelo

I dreaded going back to the room after a long day, and was glad when it was finally time to check out. The rooms had a terrible smell covered up with heavy fragrance. I switched rooms three times; the last one was somewhat better. There were rotted HVAC vents, black hair clumps on the floors and end table, a dirty fitness center, and a shower that wouldn’t drain. Housekeeping’s idea of tidying up seemed to be putting trash on the desk. The one good thing was that the front desk staff understood how angry I was about the problems. I absolutely wouldn’t stay here again.

I left my things in a pile before heading out, and the room was cleaned while I was gone. When I came back, my portable charger and the cord attached to it seemed to be missing. I wondered if they were buried in my clothes, but after the trip I checked my bags and truck and couldn’t find them. It was only about $30 worth of stuff, but still not cool.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and the hotel has a bar and a decent free hot breakfast. The staff were friendly, the gym treadmills worked, and the rooms were clean and looked new or recently updated. It’s in a quiet, safe area, and even the room doors close quietly.

We’ve been here for the second day of a company meeting, and so far the hotel has been clean and the employees really friendly. The conference room is roomy with lots of counter space. Our room is a good size, with the living area separate from the bedroom and bathroom, and the AC is amazing, nice and cold. I was nervous about staying here for a business trip after reading earlier reviews, but it’s been pretty good overall. The mattress is quite hard, though, and my husband and I woke up with some back pain, so I couldn’t give it five stars.
