Americas Best Value Inn San Antonio Downtown Riverwalk

I went in with low expectations after reading the reviews, but what we got was better than I expected across the board for what we paid. Hotel manager Rick was friendly and reasonable. He was busy, but still made a real effort to help with what we needed. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for an inexpensive, clean, comfortable, and convenient place to stay in San Antonio.

The location had us a little doubtful at first, but we ended up really liking the place. It was quiet and relaxing, with cameras and well-lit areas that felt safer. We got a non-smoking room, and it was clean and didn’t smell. The bed was comfortable, there were no bugs, and the big TV had lots of channels. I liked the modern decor and hardwood floors, and the bathroom was clean too. It’s also down the street from River walk, which was great. I’d have liked a thicker blanket and a bar of soap instead of that smelly orange hand soap, haha. Those were small things, though. We were comfortable and enjoyed our stay, and the price is hard to beat.

The location was close to downtown, but still peaceful enough to relax after a day out. On my first trip to the city, the motel turned out cleaner and more welcoming than I’d expected, from the rooms to the shared areas. It’s a budget-friendly place with really good upkeep. Mr. Rakesh was a big part of what made the stay memorable. He was warm and kind, and treated me like a local friend. His suggestions for places to visit made my short trip feel special. I’d happily come back next time, and recommend it to anyone visiting for the first time who wants a clean, comfortable stay with thoughtful hospitality.

We booked through Priceline and arrived in San late in the evening for a short visit. After going out to see acquaintances nearby, we returned around midnight and opened our room for the first time. The floor and dresser drawers were dirty, and there was a glass tube with what looked like burned residue. The room also had a recognizable skunky smoke smell. I went to ask for another room. The front desk attendant was confused about why I hadn’t reported it at check-in, so I explained that we’d only just opened the room. He asked me for photos to show management, and I attached them here. He said only a double room was available. In that room, we found a melted popsicle and Fruit Loops on the floor. We were exhausted and felt stuck choosing between bad options, so we reluctantly stayed there. We were very disappointed, especially after booking a place using the “Americas Best” name.
