Days Inn by Wyndham San Antonio Airport

We were impressed by how clean the room and hotel interior were. The remodeled shower was very nice, and the mattress was among the most comfortable we've slept on at any hotel or Airbnb, comparable only to our roughly $3,000 home mattress. The fluffy pillows meant we didn't need our travel pillows. We arrived with a camper hooked up. They don't have truck parking, but accommodated us with a place to park and opened the gate so we could pull off the back road without backing onto the main road. The location is directly across from the airport gates, and we could enjoy the pool while airplanes flew right overhead. It was very cool. If work brings us back to the area, we'll definitely stop here again.

The rooms were clean, but that was about the only good part for me. I was in San Antonio for business and had an afternoon meeting, so I asked for roughly an extra hour to rest before checking out. The front desk said they couldn't do it because housekeeping was short staffed, then just shook his head when I pointed out that staffing was the hotel's responsibility. I'm a Wyndham Diamond member, which is supposed to include things like no deposit, early check-in, late checkout, and suite upgrades. He still charged my card a deposit after I reminded him of my status. Check-in was at 4 p.m. and checkout at 11 a.m., too. If you're catching an early flight, maybe that schedule works, but it didn't work for my trip.

It's fine for a night or two, but the booking sites should be updated to match what's actually offered. The site says breakfast is included, and what you get is a coffee and a granola bar. The room was a good size, clean, and had a comfortable bed. Some patches of paint could use a touch-up. This is a low-budget hotel, so don't expect luxury. The front desk was efficient, though not especially friendly, and the airport shuttle arrived on time for the short ride.

The pool was out of service because its pump was broken, and there wasn't any breakfast. We stayed two nights and it was otherwise not bad overall. The cleaning crew should pay more attention to the walls and baseboards, especially in the bathroom.
