La Luz

The rentals are spacious and clean, and the coffee shop just below and next door is nice. We got quick replies to our messages, and they accommodated both our early check-in request and, later, our request for a late checkout after our flight was delayed by three hours. It’s just outside the tourist area, but The Alamo, River Walk, restaurants, and La Panadería are a 3-5 minute walk away. There’s plenty more to see about 15-20 minutes away on foot, including The Tower of America, Alamo Dome, and La Villita. We came with two other couples, one from out of state and one from out of country. Both said they’d tell anyone coming to San Antonio that this is a great place to stay. A hidden gem!

Service was really good. We had incredibly loud noise in the hallway at 2:00 a.m.; staff dealt with it swiftly the next morning and even let us move rooms. Check-in was easy, the place was easy to find, and the Riverwalk is nearby. We stayed for a week. The rooms were advertised as fully equipped, but a lot of kitchenware was missing, especially oven mitts for cooking. The utensils and kitchenware that were there were pretty dirty and gross. In both rooms, the bathroom door was broken and wouldn’t close all the way, so privacy was limited. The whole place felt cheaply made. There’s no lobby or front desk, since it’s set up like an Airbnb. The service was good, but everything else felt cheap.

The French bakery across the street is a must. The hotel’s location is right in the heart of downtown, and I had a fantastic stay. My room had a great vibe, was comfortable, and was very well maintained. I’d definitely come back.

Everything was great apart from the bathroom sink water. It wouldn’t get hot at all, and for what we paid, it should have.
