La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham San Antonio N Stone Oak

The main reason for choosing this hotel was its location. I pulled pictures from the website so you can compare how the rooms are presented with the last two pictures, which are from our actual room. As a Wyndham member, I didn’t get a bag of goodies or an automatic upgrade. I don’t know why, but the Wyndham properties don’t seem to care about membership status anymore. Breakfast was a wash too, with the food gone by 9 a.m. All told, it wasn’t a great stay.

Walmart and Costco are close enough to walk to, and the Zoo, Tower of the Americas, The DoSeum, and River Walk are nearby too. The location made getting around San Antonio convenient. The place was very nice and clean, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay, and my kids loved it. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a good time in San Antonio.

I’m giving it at least two stars because the front desk staff were nice and helpful. The room itself was horrendous. During my three-night stay, things kept going wrong. There were two roaches near the mini fridge on my second stay. The bathroom door lock was broken, and the knob wouldn’t close the door properly. The AC leaked badly, leaving the carpet underneath wet, and was very loud on cool. On heat it was fine. When I first walked in, the room smelled odd, like chemicals. I figured it might have been recently cleaned and tried to ignore it, but by my last day the chemical smell had grown stronger.

The location worked well for me. It was near Walmart, Dutch Bros, and the family member I was visiting. In my room, there were no closets, just a clothes rack that was so short my clothes touched the floor. I also didn’t like the strong Fabuloso smell or the hallway light shining underneath the door.
