San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter on the River Walk

The location was very convenient, with easy access from the lobby to the River Center and River Walk. There was also a roomy lobby and a well-equipped bar. I spent five nights here and found the staff friendly and welcoming, with genuine care for what we needed. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with everything I needed and a bright mirror in a relaxing space. The view was limited because it faced a large building. The heated indoor pool was a nice extra. I was very satisfied and would recommend this Marriott to visitors to the area.

Rooms at the Marriott Riverwalk are clean and exceptional, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The location makes it easy to be near everything, with the Riverwalk just a short walk away, along with Casa Rio and Alamo Biscuit company. LA Villita and the Alamo are only a quick stroll, too. The parking garage is a bit tight with a pickup, though it can be managed, and valet parking is available.

I was here for a conference, so I can't comment on the guest rooms. The meeting spaces were great, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the banquet food came out hot and fresh. You're paying for being close to the Riverwalk, but getting there was seamless.

The location is great, and the M lounge and workout room were nice. The staff were friendly and polite. Beyond those things, the hotel was disappointing and below standard. The rooms felt gross, cramped, and run down. The shower had barely any pressure, and its door was missing a bottom seal, so water covered the floor after every shower and took several towels to mop up. The hinge was loose enough that I worried the door might fall off. There was a huge 1985 alarm clock taking up much of the nightstand, and just one outlet on each side of the bed. A floor lamp was missing one of its two bulbs, leaving an empty socket. There were only two small clothing drawers, and the outlet beside the desk wasn't secured inside the wall, so plugging anything in pushed it farther in. The restaurant seems to assume everyone wants meat in every dish. The elevators were the worst: you choose a floor before boarding, there are no floor buttons inside, and using the selection panel requires a key. Marriott's digital key worked only about 60% of the time, so I gave up and asked for a regular card. I'm no Hilton fan, but its digital key is vastly better, since it's easier to find in the app and always works.
