SpringHill Suites by Marriott San Antonio Medical Center/NW

We came for my brother’s Air Force graduation, and the suite gave us plenty of space. Staff at the front desk were really friendly, greeting us with smiles and “welcome back.” After long graduation days, it was nice to return to a tidy room. There are lots of stores and quick restaurants nearby, and downtown is only a short drive away. There’s plenty of parking in front and behind the hotel, and the amenities were great. My only inconvenience was that travel-size lotion wasn’t already in the room. There’s a Target within walking distance, and the front desk also has bottles if you ask. They were happy to give me a few. I’d stay again if I come back to San Antonio.

The room we got wasn’t what I’d paid for, and the promised foldout couch wasn’t there. There was a coffee pot but no coffee or cups, and the trash cans had no liners. The office chair was broken, and the Wi-Fi was so bad I couldn’t even load Gmail. I also woke up stuffy every morning. It was still better than sleeping in my car, I guess.

I’ve stayed here several times on different trips to San Antonio. The rooms have nice brand-name touches, so I expected better bathrooms, but they’re tiny and disappointing, with hardly any room to move. In almost every room I’ve had, the restroom door wouldn’t lock. The fridge doesn’t get cold either, even when I turn the dial all the way up. The bathrooms definitely need work.

Staff were friendly, but the room and the price left us disappointed. We stayed one night, and there was blood on the bathroom doorway and on the sheets when we pulled them back. Staff came to take pictures and moved us to another room at our request, but didn’t offer any compensation. I felt disgusted by the whole thing. It also took a full 20 minutes for the shower water to get hot.
