Studio 6 Extended Stay - San Antonio, TX - Medical Center

The room had a moldy fridge, an uncovered ironing board, and a tub that felt so unstable I thought I might fall through. The mattress was uncomfortable, with the springs easy to feel, and the cleaning wasn't up to standard. I used to supervise housekeeping for a well-known company, so this motel really didn't meet expectations. There were lots of homeless people walking around at night asking for money, and my room would randomly smell like natural grass being smoked. I only stayed because everywhere else was sold out for the Paul McCarthy event. The trip was unexpected, or I would have booked ahead. I guess you get what you pay for. I wouldn't stay here again or book with Motel 6 or Studio 6.

The bed was hard, uncomfortable, and came with just one pillow, which was our only complaint. The shower was nice and hot, with great water pressure, and we watched a couple of good movies before turning in. The woman at the desk, whose husband owns the place, remembered our earlier stays and joked with us even though we checked in late. There's a store with essentials next door and lots of restaurants and bars around Fredericksburg and Medical Dr. We like this place and would come back if we need to.

I left because the room didn't feel safe or private, then found a place to stay in New Braunfels with my cousin. I had come to San Antonio with my husband to get a second medical opinion after he was denied surgery in the Rio Grande Valley. I was exhausted, unable to sleep or shower, and chose this hotel for its proximity to Methodist Hospital, hoping for a safe, clean place to rest. Finding the entrance was difficult in the poorly lit area. The check-in itself was pleasant, and the staff member was kind and professional. But outside my room several men were loitering, and on the stairs a guest was smoking with a strong marijuana smell in the air. My room smelled of smoke too. The closed door didn't feel secure, and I worried it could be opened easily. Short curtains left people outside able to see in, and I could hear the adjoining room clearly. I tried several times to reach a manager but was told each time that the manager had left for the day. When I finally spoke with Frank, he said too much time had passed for a refund, even though I'd emailed the hotel with my concerns that same night. He said I should have raised them immediately. I'm sorry I wasn't thinking clearly then. I was worried about my husband's upcoming surgery and my own safety. Save yourself the stress, time, and money.

I've been here a few months and haven't had any trouble with the AC, it's always worked fine. The staff are friendly, and the place is furnished well with what you need. I also feel safe with cameras around and an extra lock on the doors.
