The bed sheets were clean, and the bed itself was just okay. That was about the only upside of this one night stay. The online pictures are misleading. At $68 a night, I wasn’t expecting much, but I expected a lot more than this. They also charged a $100 deposit, more than the room cost and twice what the more expensive hotel earlier in my trip had charged. The room was dirty, with stains on the counters and furniture and a sticky floor. The bathroom was dim, most electrical outlets wouldn’t hold a phone charger, and the in-room phone had no cable connected. A grocery bag was wrapped around the smoke detector, which seemed sketchy. Breakfast, if you could call it that, was a couple of dirty cereal dispensers and a fridge with two yogurts. After everything else, I’d have been surprised if they were still in date. I was glad I only stayed one night. I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay here. Best Western used to be a quality brand, and tying its name to this place is a black eye. I’ll likely avoid Best Western hotels from now on. Sleeping in my car might have been better.
The room wasn't very clean, and the hallways smelled like weed. Breakfast was a mess: the cereal dispenser was broken, cereal was scattered over the counter, and the juice machine didn't work right. The same food was served every morning, and the sausage seemed reheated. We were three people staying for a week, but arrived to find just two towels and one washcloth. We had to ask for clean towels each day, and the room was serviced only once. One night the toilet clogged, so they handed me a plunger and I had to deal with it and return it myself. The next morning I reported that another toilet was running. The desk said they'd take care of it, but it was still running when we came back that evening. I had to ask again before anyone fixed it. We stay at Best Westerns often, and this was easily our worst experience. We'd never had a bad one with Best Western before this.
I spent one night at the Sure Stay Airport in San Antonio, checking in at 8 PM and leaving at 10 AM. We woke up covered in dozens of bedbug bites on our legs, then spent the next four days itching and trying to get a prescription to relieve it. I contacted the hotel several times about a refund for that one night. They directed me to Dee khushal at certain times on certain days. I called regularly for a week, but they dodged my calls, took my information, and never called back. The front desk customer service was no help, and the hotel website also didn't return my refund. Expedia offered me $20 in key one credit, which I refused. I took pictures in the room, including the floors. Don't stay here if you don't want to bring bugs home with you.
The staff were loud enough that we could hear them yelling and laughing in the hall all day, louder than the TV. The AC was noisy too, and our toilet broke during the stay with nobody coming to repair it. Breakfast was basically toast and coffee, and they ran out of toast twice. We bagged our own trash and even stripped the beds for the maids, but still got charged. Whatever rate you're quoted, expect another $100 for a deposit that they essentially keep. There are several places in the same price range within three miles, so I'd avoid this one.
The shower pressure is great, and the water softener keeps the shower heads from clogging. The soft water does leave you feeling a bit slippery, though. Rooms are clean, but could use some TLC. There's a good selection of TV channels, and breakfast is decent, with pork sausage, eggs, toast, pastries, cereal, coffee, and juice. It's been quiet on each of my stays, and prices are good, especially for Best Western Diamond members. There's also an outdoor pool. Just keep in mind that they require a $100 deposit.
