The Peacock House

It’s a very nice place, but be prepared for noisy peacocks in the early morning and throughout the day. A few seemed to attack the sliding door, probably because they saw their reflections. They’re likely asleep at night, so you should get some sleep then, but if you had a bad night, expect loud calls around 5am. Bring earplugs, trust me.

We picked The Peacock House for our daughter’s 17th birthday, and it was much better than we expected. Monica was easy to reach when we had a couple of questions, which was refreshing. I’ve owned a cleaning business for 16 years, so I notice details, and this was the cleanest, most comfortable, peaceful, well stocked rental we’ve stayed in. The spacious home has hardwood floors, beautiful countertops, fresh linens, and all the kitchen items we needed. I was flabbergasted by the quality and care in the housekeeping, from the placement and comfort to the attention to detail. It’s a great example of how to make a place feel like home. The washer and dryer were modern and quiet, the TVs in the bedrooms and living room were a good size, and the decor made the place inviting without overdoing it. The fenced yard let our little jack russell wander and sunbathe. We didn’t use it, but there’s a large hand built grill near a shady spot. We enjoyed watching the neighborhood peacocks and even saw some babies. Stores, food, entertainment, and attractions were just minutes away, yet the neighborhood was the quietest and best kept we’ve stayed in. The rates are hard to beat, too. You get a whole spacious home for about the price of a noisy hotel room. We highly recommend Monica’s rentals around San Antonio.

My mom and I were in San Antonio for 10 days of her appointments at the University Transplant Center, and this was our first Airbnb stay. Monica far exceeded what we expected. We needed somewhere that would take our three small dogs so we could avoid boarding costs, and her place met that need right away. It was also directly across from the Transplant Center, so one less thing to worry about. Our appointment schedule meant we needed some flexibility with check-in and checkout. Monica arranged that and put us in one of her properties she’s preparing to list. It was something special and immediately felt like home. The size was just right for the two of us, the colors and decor were soothing, the beds felt like sleeping on clouds, and Monica made sure we had everything we needed. She took so much stress out of arranging a place to stay so we could focus on the appointments. On our first day, we dropped our things off, crated the dogs, and left for an appointment. Monica was at the house much of the time we were gone, and even comforted the dogs by talking to them and telling them we’d be back. They calmed down quickly, and that was amazing. She’s the sweetest, most caring person. We’d booked somewhere else for next week, when we’ll be back, but promptly canceled and booked with Monica again.
