Thompson San Antonio - Riverwalk, by Hyatt

The location’s a little removed from the busy parts, which could be a plus if you want a quieter stay. It’s still an easy walk to the Riverwalk. Inside, everything felt stylish, modern, and top-tier, from the decor and rooms to the service. Valet was prompt, and the front desk staff were very helpful. We loved staying at The Thompson.

The views from the 20th-floor restaurant were a highlight. We watched the sunrise over breakfast and the sunset at dinner, and sharing those moments with my wife and kids is something we won’t forget. The breakfast was delicious, and the pool was nice. Armando, the bellman, was friendly and helpful with all our bags. My family and I spent two nights at this beautiful hotel on the quiet side of the riverwalk. The busier section was still an easy walk away, and everyone we met was friendly. For parking, it’s worth walking about 0.4 miles to St Mary's parking garage, where it costs $5-$10, compared with the hotel valet pricing.

We loved the quiet Serenity Suite. We couldn’t hear anything from inside or outside the hotel, and the room-darkening curtains made it completely dark. The beautiful tub and scented D. S. Durga products were lovely, and they brought us a complimentary mini fridge for our leftovers. We were also surprised with a bottle of champagne and a sweet anniversary note for our 30th anniversary. Natalie and the other ladies at the front desk welcomed us warmly and were very helpful. Every staff member we dealt with was great. Connie, the regular hotel driver, was sweet, knowledgeable, and helpful. The hotel driver can drop you off within three miles but won’t pick you up. Christopher drove us on Connie’s day off and was just as helpful. There are daily valet charges, and products or food and drinks from the honor bar cost extra, but those charges are clearly explained. We had a lovely two-night stay at the Thompson San Antonio Riverwalk and look forward to coming back soon. Thanks to everyone for making our anniversary trip special.

The towels and robes were thin and scratchy, and one had a few little holes. Still, we loved our stay at Thompson and will definitely come back. The staff were all kind, professional, and welcoming, the room was spotless and felt luxurious, and the San Antonio view from the patio was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable, and the mini bar was unmatched.
