The Volare, an Ascend Collection Hotel

The rooms are nice, the beds are comfortable, and overall it's a great hotel. My girlfriend and I have been coming here over the past year, but the 4 pm check-in is incredibly frustrating. I've only managed to check in early once. I had a wedding at 3 and asked if we could get in earlier, even offering to pay, because I didn't want to put on my tuxedo in the car. They refused to make any exception. It was a rainy Monday with nobody there, and I know rooms were already available. They still weren't willing to be understanding.

The rooms were cozy and the service was good. For the price, it's a great deal given how close it is to the beach and other local businesses. I enjoyed staying here and hope to return.

The beds were comfortable, and the location is great. Guests can use the parking garage, though vehicles need to be within its 7-foot clearance. There aren't many street parking spaces nearby. Balconies on the west side have a nice ocean view.

The rooms are spacious and don't feel cramped, and the hotel is fairly clean for a budget place. Its location is convenient, with easy freeway access, nearby local spots, and a parking lot. But there's plenty to improve with service and upkeep. We stayed three nights. The room was tidied on the first night, but they left a cleaning cloth and the old towels behind. It wasn't serviced or even tidied for two of the three days, despite the maid-service-please sign. When we asked for fresh towels, they refused. There's also a rust spot in the shower that seems dangerous. The parking spaces are very cramped. Even with a small car, we could barely fit, and several guests took up two spaces by double-parking. Wi-Fi also costs extra. We were told only rooms facing the balcony get it, so if you're in another room you have to pay for access.
