Bay Inn and Suites at Seaworld

The Bayinn Motel and Suites offers a good location for the price. Alma is fantastic and goes out of her way to accommodate guests. Parking is covered, WiFi is free, and there’s laundry, an elevator, outside smoking areas, plus a 24-hour desk with security cameras. The front desk sells snacks, light lunch items, and soda for 1.50. The owner is a really great, flexible guy. Rooms were neat, clean, and spacious, with cable TV, HBO, a fridge, closet, linens, desk, and remote.

The location was the biggest plus. We went to an event at the Sports Arena, and the hotel was within walking distance of the Arena, several stores, and restaurants. I’m not sure I’d stay again, though it might be my second choice. The room was satisfactory overall, with a very comfortable bed, strong shower, decent cleanliness, microwave and refrigerator, and free parking. I did see a cockroach, and the bathroom tile looked like it needed cleaning. There was no coffee machine in the room or lobby. The outside needs serious cleaning, and the garbage was overflowing when we arrived.

The check-in desk guy was amazing and very kind. Our online reservation, made through their own website, had been “lost” when we arrived after traveling more than five hours, leaving us without a room. Since only a suite was available, he put us there for the first night and told me to check in the next morning to see what was open for night two. The manager was working the next day and said there was no room for us. I was left in San Diego with two kids, both four or under, and nowhere to return after visiting Sea World. We then had to pay over $100 for a different hotel booked that same day. The manager was very rude. I’ll NEVER come back, especially after booking on THEIR website instead of through a third party. Very disappointing. The friendly desk guy is the only reason I gave two stars.

I stayed with my sister and kids, and the only thing I requested that I actually got was the rollaway bed. I also asked for extra sheets and toilet paper, but neither arrived, so I bought toilet paper at Target across the street. People smoked cigarettes and weed right outside our room, and when I complained, nothing was done. It’s a no-smoking property, and my son has asthma. Every staff member I dealt with was rude, and I was charged $50 more than I was supposed to be. Never again!
