Crowne Plaza San Diego - Mission Valley by IHG

The rooms facing the back of the property were quiet and had a pleasant view, which I appreciated on all three of my visits to Crowne Plaza San Diego – Mission Valley. The staff have also been consistently warm and welcoming. There’s a heated pool and a jacuzzi, a nice way to unwind after a long day. I’ve enjoyed each stay and would gladly come back.

I’d only ever visited Crowne Plaza San Diego Mission Valley once before, so staying there for two nights was a new experience. Walking around the hotel helped me notice how much there was to enjoy. It felt lively, with lots of teenagers around, and I think teens who like relaxing, taking photos, and being around people their age would enjoy it. Somehow the atmosphere was both calm and energetic, and I could relax without feeling rushed. It ended up being one of the most enjoyable, lively hotel stays I’ve had in a long time.

Our family was surprised by how nice the hotel was. It has a restaurant, bar, breakfast, lovely koi ponds, and nice views. The team was great with our sports group, and everyone we dealt with was polite and professional. Maintenance came right away when we called about the TV remote. My only reason for taking off a star is that the hot tub irritated my son’s and his friends’ eyes and skin, and too much chlorine turned their swim shorts pink. Otherwise, a great stay.

The staff were a real bright spot during my six nights at Crowne Plaza in Mission Valley. They were friendly, helpful, and professional. The pool area is pleasant and seems good for families or anyone wanting to relax outside. The rooms were clean, but the bathrooms are dated and need work, and there was an old-building smell that some people may mind. Some booking sites call it a 4-star hotel, but it felt more like a 3-star to me. There’s no breakfast room service, so you’ll need to make other plans if you want to eat without leaving your room. Being right beside the highway also means you’ll pretty much need a car to get around, rather than walking to local places. It wasn’t a bad stay, especially with realistic expectations, but it didn’t feel like the luxury 4-star experience some listings suggest.
