Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton San Diego SeaWorld Near Old Town

The rooms were decent and look like they've been renovated, and the breakfast was pretty good for an inn. The breakfast crew were genuinely helpful and nice, though they seemed overworked. My parents and I tipped them. The front desk staff were just okay. Getting the car at checkout took a while because the valet guys had parked the cars so tightly they had to shuffle them around. Parking itself was a mess, with a tiny lot and narrow lanes that made it feel like you could hit the parked cars. My parents said parking was $25 a night, about 25-40% of the whole bill. We were in San Diego with family for three nights. The location is 5-10 minutes from SeaWorld and the airport, with a Cane's next door, but the area felt really sketchy. There’s a strip club nearby and homeless people crossing the street. I found it kind of funny, but I can see families with kids or people wanting a nice neighborhood hating it. The free breakfast was the main thing that helped this stay. 3/10, I'd book somewhere else.

For a work trip, the location made things easy. There are places to eat, bars, and shops nearby, and getting to the airport is quick, which helped with meetings, dinner, and an early flight. The updated rooms felt clean, modern, and comfortable, with a layout that worked for relaxing or getting some work done. The fitness center was another plus, kept up well and equipped enough for a solid workout without leaving the hotel. A practical, comfortable choice for business travel.

Malarie deserves a special thank you. She went well beyond what we expected and made things easy for us. The rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful too. The warm pool and hot tub were great to use, and everything seemed well maintained. Breakfast was a highlight, especially the Hampton waffles. Our room felt nearly new, spotless and modern, and the bed was so comfortable we could really unwind. Perfect stay, would recommend.

The staff were exceptional, and the rooms were super clean and quiet. Breakfast was a full spread and included, which was great. The hotel is handy for the airport and Point Loma base, and also close to Old Town, Sunset Cliffs, Mission Bay, and Pacific Beach. I'm hoping I haven't talked it up too much, because we'd like to find availability here on our next San Diego trip.
