Hilton Garden Inn San Diego - Rancho Bernardo

I spent two weeks here. The property is outdated, and my room faced the highway, so there was a lot of noise. The bar was nice, the bartenders very friendly, and the pool was a welcome place to cool off on hot days. Still, the stay was below par. We had no hot water for a day, and the hotel's dry-cleaning service ruined one of my shirts. The hotel refused to take any responsibility. I wouldn't recommend it because of this poor service.

On the second night, I came back to find my room hadn't been cleaned at all. The hotel hadn't communicated its room-cleaning policy, either. The TV wouldn't even turn on, and the shower switch was extremely difficult to use. It took a lot of force to close, like only a strong man could manage it. I stayed two nights and was really disappointed. For the price, I expected better service and maintenance. The property feels outdated, and next time I'd definitely stay somewhere else.

We got connecting rooms, which gave us a chance to spend quality time with the grandkids. The rooms were nice, though we didn't use all the facilities. One thing needs fixing quickly: none of the USB phone chargers worked.

I reserved a king room but got two queens. When I went back to the desk to switch rooms, the woman already knew about it and then offered me a breakfast voucher. I guess she thought I'd just walk away with my tail tucked. Why make me return to the desk instead of explaining it upfront? That would've gone over much better. The breakfast was inedible, literally. I've had better at Travelodge. Even though it was free, I walked away hungry.
