Homewood Suites by Hilton San Diego Airport/Liberty Station

We enjoyed our quiet three-day stay and would come back. The two-bedroom suite was clean and well maintained, and the breakfast buffet had a good selection with enough room for our family each morning. The staff were friendly, and we liked the location by the water and shopping.

The rooms are nicely updated, and breakfast and the social hour food were exceptional. But I was shocked that neighborhood kids could use the baseball court from 1 to 5 PM and make an unbelievable amount of noise. As a paying guest, I couldn’t open the window or enjoy the balcony. After two days I’d had enough and had to move to a room by the parking lot to get some peace and quiet.

The old carpet didn’t seem clean. My husband walked barefoot in the room on the first day and the bottoms of his feet turned black, so we wore sandals around the hotel after that. I’ve stayed with my dogs at many pet-friendly hotels, and most have been very clean, so I don’t think this was just because we were in a pet room. The room would be much nicer without carpet. We stayed with our dogs a few months ago. The place was convenient and dog friendly, and the staff were helpful and friendly. There’s only one elevator, and it sounds very old and in need of repair. Sharing it with people from two floors wasn’t convenient. We used the stairs when it was just us and the dogs, but stairs weren’t practical with all our luggage and the dogs.

During my weeklong trip, staying at a different hotel every day, this Homewood was the best one. The beds and pillows were super comfortable, and the rooms were nicely updated. I did spot a few stray hairs, though that may have been because I was in such a large three-room suite.
