Paradise Point Resort & Spa

The facilities were clean and in decent shape, even if they weren't new, so I had no issue with the hotel itself. What spoiled the stay were the extra charges at check-in for things like parking and resort fees. They added $100 USD without any warning, making a one-night stay feel far too expensive. We were celebrating our son's fourth birthday at Legoland and chose this hotel to save money instead of staying inside the park. In the end, we paid more. Being given no information about those fees and then made to pay them felt more like a scam than a service.

We stayed over Christmas weekend with three friends and got an easy upgrade to a larger suite for a small extra fee. The grounds are beautiful, spacious enough that it never felt crowded, and have all the resort basics we needed. There was plenty to do without leaving, including mini golf, bicycle rentals, and a pickleball court. The on-site restaurants were very good, and the breakfast and coffee cafe had a nice seating area. My only suggestion is to add a fire pit by all the suites.

A walk along the bay starts right at the resort, and the landscaping is lovely. I found the spa wonderful and the warm pool really relaxing. There was some noise from the room next door that felt uncomfortable at times, but it's still a lovely place to unwind and enjoy the scenery.

I paid $832 for two nights for my family and then found a $1,200 charge on my card, with no explanation for the increase. That was a pretty awful surprise, especially since I’d been looking forward to a four-star resort. The rooms felt damp, unclean, and badly in need of renovation. Our table wobbled, and we kept finding bugs, including what looked like hundreds behind the curtains. The place is so isolated and tucked into the woods that it feels more like camping. At night it’s poorly lit and felt unsafe. The people in the bungalow next to ours looked like they might be doing something illicit, though I can’t say for sure. I expected a lot more from a four-star place. To me, this was two stars at best, more like a one- or two-star experience at a four-star price.
