This is marketed like a hotel, but it felt like an unsupported short-term rental. The whole stay was confusing and stressful, especially on a work trip. I’ve never left a negative hotel review before, but this one earned it. I won’t stay again, even for free. Getting into the place was a mess. There’s no lobby or staff onsite, just double doors beside a taco shop, with trash cans at the entrance and a strong urine smell. I thought I had the wrong place. I arrived early hoping to leave my bag before work meetings, as I would at a normal hotel, but there was no luggage storage. I spent almost an hour outside trying to reach someone, walking around a homeless man near the doorway with my suitcase, before being told I could rent a nearby public storage locker. They should have explained in advance that there was no front desk, staff, or luggage storage. At 4:00 pm I got the access codes, but no unit number. With no staff or clear instructions, I spent another half hour inside trying to work out which room was mine. If you’re a broke college student looking for a place in the Gaslamp, maybe this could work, but it was high-maintenance and offered no support.
