The front desk people are very nice, and I've stayed here several times. I'll stay again, but I've definitely lowered my expectations. The restaurant is understaffed, so it takes forever to get served. The staff themselves are good, but the place needs a general manager with hotel and restaurant experience to train them. The location would easily get five stars on its own. The rooms feel cheaply done, though: the lighting is poor for reading, there are only two wall outlets for charging, and the bathroom counter barely has room for one person. I can't imagine how two people could use it. They don't provide any free rod water, and it feels like they try to monetize everything.

Capital One later confirmed the room type I'd originally booked and refunded me for the downgrade. When I arrived, though, the hotel had put me in a different room entirely: two twin beds, a garden view, and a standard shower instead of the King bed, ocean view, and jetted tub on my confirmed reservation through Capital One Travel. The front desk said that was “what Capital One booked,” but couldn't show me any documentation. Staff also said this “happens often” with third-party bookings and suggested booking directly. Based on what happened to me, the hotel may not reliably honor room types booked through third-party sites. If the room details matter to you, double-check before arrival or consider another booking channel.

The Oceanfront King Suite was fantastic, with incredible views and ambience. I loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves each night. The in-room Jacuzzi was pretty nice too. 10/10, would come back.

We stayed three nights. The room was outdated and didn't feel like a full four-star experience. Being close to the beach and having valet parking were nice, but there was no free water at all. Loud machine noise kept coming from the room, which I guess was the AC system, and the AC couldn't cool things down.

Steven and Taylor greeted us when we walked in, and right away we felt we'd have a great stay. They were friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were all set. Check-in was a breeze, and the location couldn't be better. We'll definitely be back whenever we're in SD. Thanks!
