Days Inn by Wyndham Salem

There was a heavy smoke smell in this supposedly non-smoking room, and I had to keep reminding myself I'd chaperoned camp in a bunkhouse just to get through it. I bought disinfectant and air cleaner. The sheets and towels at least looked clean, but the rest was disgusting. The clock, AC, and coffee maker had dust that looked more than a month old. The fridge handle was sticky, with a spill in the bottom, and dead bugs were visible on top of the AC.

The staff were kind, but the room and lobby were disgusting. Stains covered the walls, and the room smelled extremely strong. The lights didn't work. I lasted under five minutes before leaving, then was refused a refund so I could stay somewhere else. I'd spend the few extra dollars on a hotel down the street.

The parking lot felt unsafe, with lots of noise and people hanging around. In the room, the smoke smell was strong, and the sheets didn't seem to have been changed. There were reddish-brown marks beside the bed that looked like dried blood. I wouldn't stay here again.

It was quiet and close to anything you might need, but during my six-day stay the cleaning crew came only once. I put things in the fridge and found them frozen the next morning.
