Comfort Inn by the Bay

Jonathan and Terry made sure we had what we needed and felt looked after, and I especially want to thank them for that. The room had a lovely view, and the hotel's location worked really well for visiting San Francisco. Our stay at Comfort Inn by the Bay was great. Service was exceptional, the room was clean and well maintained, and breakfast was good, too. Five stars from me.

We really liked our weekend stay in SF, and the neighborhood is cute and close to lots of restaurants and coffee shops. Just be ready for the hills if you're not used to them. There's parking, too. We enjoyed the stay enough to come back two weekends later for a business trip. Jonathan at the front desk greeted us so warmly and remembered us from before. He's lovely, efficient, and really good at his job. 10/10 for service. I'd return.

The breakfast was a highlight, especially the good coffee and scrambled eggs, which weren't dry. Otherwise things were fine, but the bathroom blower and heat lamp didn't work. When we mentioned it, the front desk wouldn't take our comments and told us to post on Expedia.

The hotel was clean, breakfast was free and pretty good, and the staff were courteous and quick to respond, always with a smile. Terry and Jean were at the front desk, Adelaida was the cleaning lady, and Jonathan from the night shift welcomed us when we checked in. The area felt very safe, and we could walk almost everywhere. We went from Van Ness north to the Wharf, nearly to the Maritime museum, and on to the Ferry Building at different hours, from as early as 6 a.m. through the evening. We felt safe the whole time. Use common sense, of course, but our instincts never warned us off. Would we stay again? Absolutely, 100% yes. It's a good hotel in a great area, reasonably priced, and close enough to walk to a lot of places. If you're expecting a 4-5 star kind of stay, this isn't it. But if you want a quality hotel that feels safe and is close to the places you want to see in San Fran, this could suit you. You can walk to the base of The Golden gate bridge, the Wharf, Warriors stadium, The Ferry Building, restaurants along the way, and the Moscone Center.
