Motel 6 San Jose, CA - Airport

This place is no longer a hotel. It’s a homeless shelter, although Motel 6 still lists it as available, which is how I booked. Calling the front desk just results in a dropped call. I think customer service is only on the East Coast and available until 9 pm EST. They’ll issue a refund without charging only if they can reach the front desk, and with calls dropping, that’s never going to happen. Don’t book here.

I booked this online through Motel 6 last night, drove to the address, and found the place closed off behind a fence. It isn’t accessible, but the website still lets you book, so I assumed it was open. I got charged for a room I couldn’t stay in. Don’t book it.

This isn’t a Motel 6 anymore. The county owns it now, and it’s intermediate housing for people coming off the street, including homeless people seeking permanent housing through county programs.

The rooms get hot, and the floors around the bathroom sink do too. The air conditioners may run, but they don’t cool the rooms enough. The TVs show everything in purple instead of normal colors. Some rooms weren’t cleaned properly, either. Once, the bedding had just been tossed in the middle of the bed. Another time, after I’d already rented a room and was told the wait would only be a short while, I ended up waiting 5 or 6 hours before I could relax.
