Valley Inn San Jose

We got back late from our event expecting to eat the microwavable food we’d bought, but the microwave didn’t work. Its plug was duct taped together, and I have a photo. We had to go back out and spend more money on food. Then, when we tried to sleep, the air conditioner made such a horrible noise that we couldn’t leave it on. We gave it hours in case it settled down, but by 2 am it hadn’t, so we turned it off and were miserably hot all night. I have video of the air conditioner issue too. It was so late that calling the office, possibly having someone come into the room or moving, didn’t seem like a good option. I brought it up with management in the morning. She said nobody had mentioned the air conditioner and she didn’t know the microwave was broken. With no light inside and no numbers on the display, it seemed the cleaning staff weren’t checking or cleaning the microwaves, or they would have noticed. We weren’t offered anything or even a partial refund. We’ll never give this hotel our business again. Worst hotel experience we’ve had, 0/10 recommended. The listed amenities were a microwave, fridge and air conditioning, and two of the three were unusable.

Getting to the airport was easy with the hotel shuttle, and the staff were friendly and gave useful local tips. The place was clean and comfortable, with all the essentials. Our room had lots of storage and a large TV.

The location felt very safe, and the staff were friendly.

The staff were courteous, efficient and helpful, and we had no problems at all. The rooms were very clean and fairly quiet given the location on The Alameda. A five-star overnight stay for a budget motel.
