Heritage Inn Bed & Breakfast - San Luis Obispo

The building smelled damp, like dogs and cannabis, and felt neglected. Our room was hot without AC, which we hadn't known about, though we left the balcony door open. On our four-night stay, breakfast was provided only once. Timothy agreed verbally to remove one night's charge for the missing breakfasts, and I accepted. They initially charged about $600 for three nights, then reversed that charge and billed roughly $800 for all four. I disputed it with my card company, and I think I lost because I asked for the full amount back instead of only the one night. By then, after thinking it over, I was angry and wanted all my money returned. During the dispute, the Inn Owner sent me a very rude, blasphemous letter. I never actually spoke with them despite calling several times. For $200 or more per night, I expect a clean, comfortable room and kind service, and we got none of that. This was easily the worst part of our October 2023 trip. If I'd known how it would go, I wouldn't have unpacked and would have found somewhere else right away. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere. It has made me think twice about supporting a small B&B.

Georgia, our hostess, made the visit especially enjoyable. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and service at the Heritage Inn, and by how much of its historic character has been kept. It's centrally located for visiting the San Luis Obispo area, and parking is convenient. Highly recommend it.

Richard, the Inn Keeper, was kind, caring, and fantastic. The place was clean and cozy, close to downtown, where the nightlife is fun and casual. I stayed in July and had a great first experience at a bed and breakfast. I met people from Belgium and Austria, which made it a nice fit for anyone who enjoys meeting new people. Families can have breakfast before heading out to see the sights, and couples could enjoy a romantic getaway here too. I'd recommend it to everyone. The host was so sweet, and breakfast was just right. My daughter and I spent one night here while visiting town and really liked it. The house has that cozy grandma's-house feeling. I had worried about sharing a bathroom, but there are two, and it never became an issue. Having a sink in each room made getting ready for bed easier, from washing up to dealing with contacts and brushing our teeth. Highly recommend this 100-year-old gem!
