Golden Door

I was only there for 30 minutes before leaving and heading home. For a daily rate of $2,500, I expected a much more refined, accommodating experience. When I raised my concerns with management, the response was dismissive and unhelpful: "There aren't any other rooms to move you and your deposit is non-refundable." The room accommodations didn't match what had been advertised, and the service had declined significantly since my first, exceptional visit to The Golden Door. I'm glad I paid with American Express, since that should help me get my deposit refunded. Even my Uber driver on the way to the resort provided better service than I experienced there. If you're looking at a luxury wellness retreat, I'd suggest considering places like Canyon Ranch.

I’ve stayed in some amazing hotels, but I’d never felt this kind of luxury in being cared for and nourished. I had massages every day, herbal wraps, body scrubs, hikes, art, flowers, meditation, and community. I met amazing people. This was the best vacation, rest, and rejuvenation I've ever had, and it's the only kind of vacation I want now. I came home thoroughly rested, ready to get back to my life, and with new habits to take with me. I can't say enough.

No schedule to keep, no phones buzzing, no pressure. I could read, reflect, nap, or wander, and sometimes doing nothing was exactly the point. I was grateful for all that space.

Great drinks, good energy, and a classy ambiance. I'll absolutely come back, and highly recommend this place.
