The Morgan San Simeon - Cambria by Hearst Castle

The location was really convenient, and we had a lovely breakfast there on our last day. Housekeeping brought us coffee quickly and were very nice, but the coffee maker had enough for just one cup even though there were two of us and we had queen beds, so you’d think there might be supplies for two or even four people. The rooms were nice, but not worth the price. The beds were too high, the linens were frayed, though the bedspreads were very nice. The front desk staff are all business. A greeting and a smile would help. A huge seagull kept dropping on our window, so we kept that side draped.

The photos really don’t match what we got. The bathroom was dirty and run-down, and the beds looked cheap and worn. We were supposed to have an “Ocean View” but got a “Plant View,” basically weeds, bushes, and shrubs right in front of us. There was no working AC, despite it being advertised. We put up the DND sign because we didn’t want housekeeping coming in. They ignored it, then had the nerve to put the sign back in our room. The front desk worker was rude and seemed unhappy to work there. This place is so old and ugly it needs to be shut down ASAP. We went for memorial weekend, and I’m giving it 2 stars only so the review doesn’t get filtered out by the negativity classifier. Don’t trust the nice photos. Go to any other cheap inn nearby.

The clock and fridge kept making noise and waking me up. The bedding had stains, and the bed was so soft it felt like a pile of springs, which made it difficult to sleep. I was very upset that I chose this hotel. It doesn’t feel like a 3-star place, at most 2 stars. Everything is the lowest quality.

We stayed just one night and found a serious BED BUG infestation the next morning. Three bugs were on the bed, and four more were crawling on the wall. My partner woke up with countless bites all over his arms and chest. Please be aware if you’re thinking of booking here, and inspect the room carefully before settling in. We’re sharing this to warn other guests.
