Motel 6 Sandston, VA - Richmond, Va

My friend and I stayed in the room for about 15 minutes before checking out and leaving. We got no refund, despite the awful, health-code-breaking conditions. The lobby smelled vile and the floors were sticky. Dirt was ground around the shower, there was black mold in the bathroom and stains and mold on the walls, plus stained curtains and bedding with holes in it. I’d avoid this motel at any cost.

We stayed during the ice storm, and it was a nice place to be. The staff were very nice, and the bed was even better than the one I have at home!

I felt incredibly unsafe bringing my kids here. When we arrived around 9 p.m., about 30 people were standing around the parking lot drinking and carrying on. There were beer bottles everywhere and dogs belonging to people living there were running loose. The pool was closed after people fought and broke beer bottles in it. Our room was very dirty. There was pee in the toilet with the lid up, brown smudges all over the bathroom, and dead flies across the shower floor. The floors were sticky and the room smelled like an ashtray. Just horrible.

The staff were warm, polite, and engaged, and the room was generally clean with soft linens. I couldn’t get an extra blanket or pillow. The shower grout was gross, though I didn’t use it. The doors open to the outside and could use better manual locks, and the exterior looked like a junkyard.
