Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Sandusky South

I didn't get to my booked room until after 11:30 p.m., and it was freezing. The thermostat was set to cool, and switching it to heat still left cold air coming out. I waited almost 40 minutes for it to warm up, then gave up and booked another hotel. The front desk staff had already left for the night, so there was nobody to call. I left a note in the room and went.

For $35 a night, this was a great place to stay, with a clean enough room that could've used a mop. Checkout was at 11, and breakfast was free, with coffee, waffles, and cereal. Surprisingly nice motel and unbelievable value. If you're after the cheapest, best option in town, this is it.

The room stayed humid, even with temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s. Maybe that's down to the motel's age or how close Lake Erie is, so I'd keep the AC fan running. Otherwise, this was a fantastic budget stay for Cedar Point, just an easy 10-minute drive away. I stayed four nights and was pleasantly surprised by the room for the price. The beds were super soft and comfortable, the staff were incredibly nice and helpful, and it was pretty quiet. The thrill center behind the property can get loud at times if you're in one of the back units, though if you're out most of the day, you may not notice. I'd consider coming back on my next Sandusky visit.

Really clean remodeled rooms and a comfy stay. The staff were great, and the waffles at breakfast were good too. Thanks to the team.
