The atmosphere is great, and our server was very good. The food tasted good and was cooked well, but the portions were shockingly small. I had the steak tips and fries, and got just four steak nuggets about the size of a quarter, which came to roughly nine dollars per nugget. My date's grilled prime rib was small too. I'm glad we ordered appetizers, because the entrees alone would've left us hungry. The place was empty, which may say something about the food. I hadn't been in a long time and gave it a try on a Thursday night. As a local, I'd choose one of the much better options in Sandwich. The place might be nice to stay at, but I wouldn't go there for the food.

The rooms were clean and quaint, and the old inn had a comfortable, home-like feel. The food was good and the bar had a great atmosphere. Things started off awful because of an interaction with my company's lodging group, not the establishment, but the stay turned into a good time. I'd happily return next time I'm in the area.

Molly was wonderful at making us feel at home, keeping up with our needs and dietary requests, and even getting everyone together for a group photo. The staff gave us excellent service. There were 19 of us, old high school friends, meeting in a private room for our yearly holiday Christmas party and Yankee swap. The room was beautifully decorated, and the food, cocktails, and ambiance were all great. We had a lovely time thanks to the staff.

The spa was the clear bright spot, but after a disappointing weekend, I don't see much reason to return to the Inn on another Cape visit. There are other places with spas that feel more polished, offer better service, and can accommodate both a wedding and regular guests for a similar nightly price. Saturday's problems left a poor impression, especially since we came for a relaxing weekend. The room had plenty of space, comfortable bedding, and enough seating. The rooms are nice, though dated, and I know that some old-fashioned touches are part of a historic hotel's appeal. The narrow balcony was unusable, with overgrown trees meant to provide privacy and chairs visibly covered in mildew. The jacuzzi was a nice feature, but it was incredibly loud. When the neighboring guest filled their tub at 7 in the morning, it sounded like a freight train through our room. The noise seems to come from the water lines, and earplugs would be needed to relax. The shower stall could fit two people, but had just one tiny showerhead, much less than the space called for. This doesn't seem like the Cape Cod take on The Woodstock (Vt.) Inn suggested by the website. It feels like the hotel is aiming for four stars but lands around three, maybe three and a half. The building can charge a fortune in summer simply because it's on the Cape. It's not the worst hotel we've stayed in, though far from the best. I reviewed the restaurant, the Tavern, separately.

The lunch menu was very limited, and the food was average. My mother liked the onion soup, though she thought it had too much cheese. My husband ordered the fish sandwich, which was dry and overcooked in old oil. I asked for my burger medium well, but it came medium. Service was average too. We came to the tavern for lunch, not the dining room, and had to wait 20 minutes to be seated even though only three tables were being served. They said they had just two servers. The restaurant has gone downhill and isn't what it used to be.
