Casa Ybel Resort

We won't be returning to Casa Ybel. We came with our four kids and two other families, and when I tried to raise problems with our room, management wouldn't listen or try to fix them. After spending thousands of dollars, being completely ignored is unacceptable. There are plenty of other nice places to stay on Sanibel.

We feel cheated by this stay. The pool was closed and the restaurant wasn't open, despite website photos that made it look as though it was. My husband, a Navy veteran, has a collapsed lung and can't get to the beach, so we'd planned to use the pool. We stayed one night, then asked for a refund for the other two. I've called every day, but the Director of Resort Operations hasn't returned any of our calls. Don't waste your time or money.

Getting the resort manager to respond was extremely difficult, and the place seemed to operate on an ignore-you approach. The pool wasn't open, and the one-bedroom units involve several flights of stairs. The location is far down the island, which makes getting off difficult. These days the east end is easier to reach and has much more activity. I wouldn't stay here again even if they paid me.

We stopped for lunch while biking around Sanibel and had delicious food with lovely views. The restaurant is well worth recommending. We didn't stay overnight, so I can't speak to the rooms, though the amenities looked fantastic.
