The room was really comfortable, and the view from the 4th floor was fabulous. We had nachos at the great bar and lounge, served on a cookie sheet in a huge portion that was easy to share. We also walked the beautiful paths, sat by the outdoor fire pit, and looked up at the stars. There were bicycles, horses, golf, swimming, crafts, a spa, and great food too.

The best part of the hotel is the big outdoor bar patio, with its view of the Sandia Mountains. There’s also a very nice independent gallery next door featuring talented local artists. I live nearby and have only visited to eat and walk the cottonwood trails along the Rio Grande. The food keeps getting worse while prices rise, which is sad given the limited fine dining options in nearby Bernalillo and Placitas. The hotel doesn’t seem to make an effort to attract that kind of business.

We had direct patio access to the grounds from our upgraded Mountain View room on the 1st floor, which was amazing. The Hyatt Regency Tamaya has a beautiful, spacious layout and distinctive Adobe-style architecture. Staff were friendly, and the Globalist benefits were excellent: parking, resort fees, and breakfast for three were covered. Globalists also get complimentary access to the Spa sauna and relaxation room, and we enjoyed the tasty a la carte breakfast options. A few things could run better. Our bathroom sink was clogged when we arrived and wasn’t fixed until the second day. The buffet breakfast had little variety and the fruit wasn’t fresh, so the a la carte menu was a better choice. The front desk told me to check Spa and bike availability myself, but no one was at the bike area, and the Spa facilities closed surprisingly early, before 6 PM. They’d also run out of s'mores kits on our first night. It’s a great property, though operations and management have room to improve.

The accommodation was amazing, and I loved how many things there were to do. Little campfires were scattered around the property at night, and ending the evening by the indoor fireplaces was perfect. The views and atmosphere were stunning, and the staff were fantastic overall. The one problem was the waitress at the resort cafe. She seemed like she didn’t want to be there, was extremely slow, then disappeared at the end of the night. I had to find another waiter to clear the bill.

The view was unreal, and a mountain side view room is definitely worth getting. We felt very catered to, everyone was polite and professional, and the resort made us feel like royalty. It’s an extremely romantic place, though I was surprised by how many children were there. We were over the top impressed apart from the dinner buffet. The prime rib was awful, and we paid almost $200 for two people. The server was auto gratuity and only came to our table twice, so that was not impressive at all. We’ll definitely be back.
