The room was basic, as advertised, and staff were friendly when we checked in. But the shower is dangerous. I set it to a normal temperature, then someone in the next room flushed a toilet. We could hear the plumbing through our room, and the water suddenly turned scalding. I got burned. I’m just glad our two-year-old daughter wasn’t in the shower. When we told the staff about the plumbing, they apologized but didn’t offer anything else.

The room was cold and noisy, and absolutely crawling with cockroaches. They were in the bed, bathroom, toilet, fridge, microwave, and on the walls. Completely disgusting. We tried to complain, but after taking our money the man at the desk never showed up again. Don’t go there.

A great little find for the price. The room was clean and surprisingly nice, with cable TV, a fridge, a big bed, and a microwave. The woman at the front desk was lovely. I’d recommend it to anyone taking a California Highway 1 trip.

DIRTY DEEDS DONE DIRT CHEAP. It was a cool sight during my one-night visit to Santa Maria. I didn’t stay there, though, I stayed at the Hampton I’d booked in advance. Yes, I own that AC/DC album on CD.

It’s a 24/7 party place, and the managers are very discriminatory. Guests can’t just stop by without staff wanting to inspect your room. There’s no AC, and you have to put down a $20 deposit for a key. This is the worst hotel I’ve stayed at. I’d give it zero stars if I could.
