Hampton Inn & Suites Santa Maria

My husband’s family is in Santa Maria, and we were excited to visit over our anniversary weekend in February and stay at this hotel. A tragic fatal car accident took my cousin’s life, though, so we had to move the trip to late February or early March to attend the funeral. We booked through Expedia and were told we could cancel by the 6th. Expedia said it was happy to cancel, but needed the hotel’s approval to issue a refund. Hampton Inn emailed to say they would not refund our stay after the death in our family, even though we’d be back in just a few weeks. It was only January 26, and our trip was set for February 11, so I felt we’d given plenty of notice. I even offered proof of what happened. We spent over $600 on a room we can’t use, and I found the response completely insensitive. When we reschedule for late February or March, we won’t stay here. I’ll never stay here.

The service was excellent, the rooms were very well kept, and breakfast was included. The location is handy, with a Wendy's and a Chick-fil-A within walking distance. Domino's also delivers to the property, and the wait was short.

Tori at the front desk is a real asset to this property. I work in hospitality and have high expectations, and her guest service is what hospitality should be. We had one of my best stays here, with clean, modern rooms and everything we needed. We’ll definitely come back.

Breakfast was delicious, and it wasn’t too crowded when we went down early. The room was small but very clean. The bed felt a bit too firm for me, though I did manage to sleep. A great visit overall.
