Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago Naperville

The service is phenomenal, and I highly recommend both the evening happy hour and morning breakfast. The rooms are spacious and clean, which makes this a favorite for a staycation weekend. I only took off a point because some of the furniture is a little worn or damaged. I’ll absolutely be back.

The shower pressure was very weak, and the carpeting could use an update. The sheets also seemed a bit old, although they were clean. Breakfast was included, and the omelets were easily the best choice while the rest was average. Still, I had a good stay. The suite was large and comfortable, and it was quiet enough for a restful night, with no slamming doors or hallway noise. The staff downstairs were welcoming, and the huge parking lot was a nice bonus. I’d stay here again.

The location is great, in a quiet, safe corporate area near plenty of food and other essentials, including a grocery store, pharmacy, fast food, Amazon, Starbucks, and a train station. Nearby I-88 didn’t make much noise. Breakfast had a great selection and was good. The room cleanliness was awful. In the first room, the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed and there was dust. We also found toenails on the bathroom floor and on the carpet by the bed, so we asked to move. The replacement room still had leftover pizza from the previous guest, unvacuumed carpet, and other people’s trash. I don’t recommend staying here if you want a clean room. Unfortunately, I won’t be back.

We booked one night over winter break so the kids could use the pool, but this was one of the worst hotel stays we’ve had. I wish I’d checked the reviews first. The rooms were outdated, elevator waits were long, and our room didn’t even have a towel hook. Honestly, a Motel 6 would have been better, and I’d tell people to save their money and stay somewhere else. The pool was filthy when we went in after check-in. The water was dark, smelled awful, and had hair all through it. After about 30 minutes, my children’s eyes were extremely irritated and they refused to go back in. Staff members leaving the pool area even said it had been very busy the night before and hadn’t been cleaned yet. That was unsanitary and unacceptable; the pool should have been closed. The front desk employee said she couldn’t do anything except notify housekeeping for maintenance. Nobody came, even though we checked more than once during the night. I asked for a refund so we could leave right away, but was told that wasn’t possible because the manager wasn’t available and wouldn’t be for weeks. From other reviews, it seems unlikely management will respond.
