We’ve spent years going to busy Miramar Beach and Destin, so this year we tried a condo at the Dunes of Seagrove and really enjoyed it. Unit 207C in building C was comfortable and beautifully decorated. Its balcony looked out toward the ocean beyond buildings A and B. One car was parked inside, and the other went in the nearby lot north of our building. I’m not sure whether A or B would have been as good, despite being closer to the beach. The smaller bedroom and bathroom felt too small next to the larger ones, and I almost felt guilty using the big room. We also enjoyed some of the smaller restaurants in the area.

We stayed the first week of October 2022. The room was clean, with large bedrooms and bathrooms, and covered parking. That’s about it for the positives. There wasn’t much of a view, and both pools were ice cold. The kids still managed to swim for a little while on a couple of days. The biggest letdown was the beach setup. The entire stretch in front of these buildings was filled with rental chairs and umbrellas at $40 per day. To the left, the public beach was two tents deep in places by 9 a.m. and five deep before lunch. To the right, signs marked private beach for the homes next door. There was almost no chance of sitting by the water unless you paid for chairs and an umbrella. The wristbands required to get to and from the pool and beach felt like Disney fast passes, and were a pain. We had four: one didn’t work and one had a broken clasp, so two were useless. They also flapped around without an extra band to hold the loose length, making them annoying, easy to catch on things, and easy to lose. Next time we’ll research more or pay extra to stay somewhere else in the area.

The condo was beautiful, but we won’t stay there again. We had three carloads of people in room a209 and nobody told me where everyone should park. On the last full day, we’d already found handwritten notes left on the car, unsigned by anyone. Then yesterday we got a call saying we’d been asked several times not to park where we had. No one had told us where to park. The place also wasn’t childproof. On my first day I had to call because the washer door wouldn’t stay shut, so I propped it closed with a stick. The laundry room door fell, and a screen in one of the rooms came off too. The people were rude.

The condo rental was clean and nice, though the staff were very rude.

The beach is beautiful, and the location is great.
