Motel 6 Santa Rosa, NM

The staff tried hard to find a room that could work for us, since the ADA room option didn't meet our needs, and customer service was the one redeeming part. Our room was clean, but an awful poop smell lingered, probably from the shower drain. Food choices at the hotel were very limited, though staff did suggest places nearby. I'd heard the Mexican restaurant across the street was good, but it was packed, so I ended up stopping at Love's or TA instead. The fast food service at TA wasn't great, and I'll review that separately. I don't think I'll stay here again on future cross-country drives.

Bad weather made me stop for the night in Santa Rosa, even though I hadn't planned to stay there. I could bring my cat without lying about it, and there was no pet deposit. The room felt great, like a little sanctuary that night. I'd definitely come back.

For about 75 bucks, it was affordable and clean. The fridge and AC heater worked well, and they had free coffee, though the lids didn't fit the foam cups, so watch out for that. Water pressure was medium, and the shower water was pretty cold in the morning. I stayed in Nov 2025 on the way to Vegas for gambling studies. I'd check the TV setup: the cable didn't match the menu, the picture was grainy from a poor signal, and Hispanic channel 13 didn't work for my daily Spanish class. The Indian guy at reception was a tall, skinny young gentleman, friendly and smiling.

Compared with the Motel 6 I stayed in the night before, this place wasn't nearly as good. It has a good location, two beds, a fridge, and plenty of outlets. We didn't need the fridge, so it wasn't a big deal that it wasn't plugged in. The shower floor was clean, but the curtain track had mildew. The Wi-Fi didn't work, and the heater kept blasting all night, leaving me freezing one moment and too hot the next. The bathroom fan was exposed and caked in dust and grime. I wouldn't recommend it.
