Travelodge by Wyndham Santa Teresa

Penny's diner is a sweet little spot, with a nice atmosphere and great service. The lodge itself was lovely too: clean rooms, comfortable beds, and a clean bathroom.

The staff were amazing, and when I needed room service they responded as they should. The place is always clean and comfortable, the AC works well, and the showers get hot.

After a long drive, I was tired and hungry when I checked in at the Diner. Jessica was warm and welcoming and gave me excellent service. Jesse cooked what might be the best bacon burger I’ve ever had. Between that, the clean room, and a quiet stay, the long day ended on a great note.

We slept well in the spacious room. The queen bed was decently comfortable with three pillows, though we only used two. There wasn’t a comforter, but the fleece blanket was enough. The chair and ottoman were comfy too, and the AC worked well. In the bathroom there were two towels, and the shower had good pressure and hot water. It didn’t smell or feel slimy. The water came out of the shower head a little wildly, but it wasn’t too bad and didn’t spray past the curtain. The diner girls were kind when we checked in, but food may not be available there. We got lucky and caught it open for a few minutes. If it’s closed, you’ll need to drive a bit farther to find food. There’s a pilot car rate, $65 plus tax, I overheard. There are quite a few of us staying here right now, though that doesn’t change what I’ve described. I’d stay again. One thing I’d say is to latch the extra door lock at night. I’m not sure how, but someone carrying a key for the room across the hall managed to open our door until the latch stopped it, leaving it open just a crack. The curtains aren’t stapled shut, either. They meet in the middle with magnets. I spent time in another room upstairs and it was much the same, just a little smaller. There’s a main entrance that smells of cigarettes, but it wasn’t as overwhelming as one review made it sound. There’s also a side entrance, so you can use whichever door is nearer your room. This isn’t the Hilton, but it’s nice. I’d read reviews before staying and found some of them super picky. To each their own.
