Mountain Lake Inn

It's an older hotel, so don't expect five stars, but the location is great for the lake, bike paths, and trails. The breakfast was simple, as expected, and the pool was okay, nothing fancy. The fridge didn't work, so make sure to check it before putting food in. A simple place at a simple price.

For the price, this is a good hotel. It was clean and comfortable, with free breakfast, and four stars seems fair to me. The WiFi was really slow, and our room had a few issues, though nothing too concerning. It was the cheapest hotel around that I wouldn't worry was a health hazard. The pool was clean and nice, but cold, and there's no hot tub.

The staff were friendly and quick to respond, and parking is generally easy, with several entrances that bring you closer to your room. During the 2026 winter carnival, though, the heavy snow made it hard to find a spot at night. There's no elevator, so anyone on the second floor has to carry bags upstairs. The hotel is close to everything, which was nice, but there's not much to do there beyond the pool. The lighting throughout the building is awful, and there's no gym. The place is quite old, though staff maintain it fairly well and it was generally clean. Our room was clean and warm, and the hot water was excellent, all especially important in February. The queen beds sagged a bit in the middle, and my back still hurt two days later. Breakfast had a decent selection but was low quality, with eggs, I think they were eggs, and bacon microwaved. It really doesn't look as good in person as it does in the website pictures. Kudos to the photographer.

We had a nice stay while biking the rail trail. Jill and Kristen at the front desk made it extra enjoyable. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and funny.
