I stayed here for about a month and a half while waiting to move into my new place, and the experience was comfortable given how hard it is to be away from home during a life transition. Everyone was nice, and Reed was especially efficient, professional, and kind. He and Nick gave me some of the best customer service I’ve had. I even left a handwritten five-star review because I appreciated how much their kindness mattered. Things went badly after I checked out. I’d left some belongings behind and called to ask if they could be held. I also asked about a deposit a family member had put down to reserve my most recent room when I couldn’t do it myself that morning. I stayed ten more days and paid for those myself. The deposit had only been placed by my family member to help me, and I felt it should be returned to me. When I called to ask when I’d get it back, Nick told me it would go to the person who paid it. He treated it as a closed matter and wouldn’t let me speak to a supervisor or even take a message so I could talk to someone else. I was shocked by that last interaction after such a positive stay. Nick, thank you for turning a good experience into a rotten ending. You ruined it.
The location was perfect, and the staff did help us find a room that was almost perfect, but our three-day stay was a lot. On the first night, Sarasota police had the property surrounded over threats involving drinking and a knife. The officers were cool, but they said the hotel had a lot of problems. We encountered roaches and were moved to another room, which was a big plus. The second room, on the ground floor, was full of mold, and the smell nearly sent me to the ER. Staff helped again. After we checked two more ground-floor rooms, we finally stayed in one upstairs on the second floor. Breakfast was basic, just waffles, cereal, and bread, but fine for a quick bite.
We had a spotless room, fresh comfortable bedding, and a perfectly clean bathroom during our three nights here. Getting around was easy thanks to the great location, and the staff were friendly, quick, and helpful whenever we communicated with them. Everything was better than we expected. We really enjoyed the stay, would definitely come back, and would recommend it without hesitation.
For the price, this is a great hotel. It’s very clean, and I’ve never seen any sign of bugs. A few rooms may smell a little like cigarettes, though that could be from people smoking on the balcony. I’d highly recommend it.
The floor was filthy. Under the bed we found white powder, old blueberries, and a container. I’d been about to put my seven-month-old down there to play with a toy, so I’m glad I checked. After seeing that mess, I didn’t even want to breathe in the room. We told the front desk, and all they gave us was a broom to sweep it up. I wouldn’t recommend this place, especially for families with babies or kids. The hallways smelled okay-ish and everything else was clean. The front desk guy was blunt and not very welcoming, which felt worse given that the hotel is behind a gas station in a sketchy area. We paid $200 plus a $100 deposit for one night and two beds.
